On our way back into North America from South America, we had a longish layover in Houston, Texas. We had decided we had more than enough time to get out of the airport and spend the day exploring!
As with most airports in the world, it is of course not conveniently located to the downtown core, but we decided an uber in and out was more than worth it to not spend the 10 hours in the airport. And what awaited us, was pleasantly surprising.
After an overnight flight, we were incredibly happy to be starting our day at Snooze, an AM Eatery which is a trendy little breakfast place and it did not disappoint. I had the upside down pineapple pancakes with cinnamon butter and vanilla cream. Words cannot describe how amazingly delicious it was!
After breakfast and coffee, we headed off down the trendy main street of Montrose which had some quaint little antique stores that kept us busy for a while. We then went south into the Museum District which had some interesting exhibits and was a beautiful suburban area to enjoy.
To end the day, we stopped in at The Pit Room for delicious Texas BBQ before it was time to head back to the airport. We enjoyed the pulled pork, brisket and pork ribs along with coleslaw and potato salad. These people know how to barbeque!
We had barely scratched the surface of Houston, but still managed to really enjoy our day eating and exploring!
